AN ENTHUSIASTIC group of people young and old enjoyed a pleasant walk around some Belper sights last Sunday, July 24.
Led by Julie Wozniczka and members of the Belper Civic Forum, the group walked the Coppice Brook from where it joins the River Derwent to the Mill Lane recreation ground.
Among other sights, they took in the old Silkolene site, and also enjoyed talks from former Belper News editor and local historian Adrian Farmer.
The group also learnt about the farms and tannery that used to be on the brook.
Walkers, especially the children, also got the chance to discover what kind of wildlife was in the brook, such as larvae, shrimps, snails and sticklebacks.
