A £2.5m contract has been signed to deliver a development of new affordable homes in a former Derbyshire colliery village.
Amber Valley-based Futures Housing Group has been granted planning approval by North East Derbyshire District Council to build 24 two and three-bedroom homes on Carlyle Road in Stonebroom. A further six homes for sale will be built on the site for Rykneld Homes.
Futures, which manages around 9,100 homes throughout the East Midlands, is using funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and working with Partner Construction Ltd on the new development.
Alan Boucker, Futures’ Director of Development and Investment, said: “Futures is extremely pleased to be investing £147m in developing around 1,000 new properties throughout the East Midlands by 2020 so people can afford to live and work in the areas in which they grew up.
“We are committed to ensuring our developments offer a wider range of choice to different types of home-seeker and we are confident that our Carlyle Road development will provide attractive, high quality, affordable homes as well as homes for sale.”
Work is scheduled to start in May and should be ready for occupants by March 2018. The site will be made up of seven two-bedroom bungalows, 19 two-bedroom homes and four three-bedroom homes.

Futures Housing Group completed a company-record year of house building in March 2017, creating 195 new homes.
It is currently developing 38 affordable homes on the site of an old Dairy Crest milk distribution centre in Langley Mill.
