MATLOCK runners led the way during the recent London Marathon as part of the Youth Hostel Association’s (YHA) team.

No fewer than 11 runners laced up their trainers for team, most of which were from the Matlock and Chesterfield area.

Bob Evans was the first to cross the line in three hours 45 minutes, followed by George Ashbrook. Other Matlock runners included Marie Tuck and Judie Mayolfri-Rebaudi.

They had been raising money for the YHA charity, Breaks 4 Kids which helps underprivileged youngsters to join classmates on trips and activities.

A spokesperson said: “What a team we had this year, with eleven wonderful individuals, they were slightly the worse for wear, but immensely proud finishers!”
