RARE REPTILES and creepy-crawlies kept children in Ambergate entertained on Wednesday.
The youngsters attending the village playgroup, on Devonshire Street, were treated to a display by the educational animal workshop Zoolab.
Rangers presented a fun exercise session designed with younger children in mind.
Children examined a range of animals and insects, from a giant snail to a Chilean Rose Tarantula to observe how they move.
And the brave tots even got their hands on a 6ft corn snake as part of the day.
Then youngsters copied the behaviour of the animals they had met through a series of games.
Committee member at Ambergate and District Playgroup Carole Tallontire, of Newbridge Road in the village, said the money was raised to hire Zoolab after parents ran a refreshment stall at a village performance of Jack and the Beanstalk in February.
Carole, said: “the rangers were great - what they do is so different to the children’s usual routine. It’s the fact that they are able to handle these creatures they would not come across normally.”
