Belper reach third cup final

Under-18s cup semi final

Duffield 2, Belper Town 3

BELPER Town U18s moved into their third successive cup final with a win at Duffield.

Despite an awful pitch and a strong wind, Belper began brightly and within five minutes they hit the woodwork twice.

Belper continued to dominate and create chances but could not convert them into goals with the Duffield keeper making a succession of great saves.

Belper were made to pay when Duffield scored with their first shot on goal following a goalmouth scramble.

It was important that Belper pulled a goal back before the break and they did this just before half time with a Ryan Baker penalty.

Belper came out strongly again in the second half with Sam Dockwray pulling the strings in midfield. More chances went begging before Ashley Worthington finished another goalmouth scramble to put Belper ahead.

Belper went out to kill the tie but a breakaway goal and a fine finish from Josh Thompson put Duffield level.

Straight from the kick off Belper put together a great move which was smartly finished by Ryan Baker to retake the lead.

Again Belper went to finish the tie but despite some great football they could not score again and missed two more penalties in the process!

However they saw the game out and go through to a final to be played at Pride Park.
