Derbyshire CCC’s four-day game revival has continued over the last week with back-to-back victories in Division Two of the LV County Championship.
After a draw at Chesterfield against Essex, Graeme Welch’s side, with only one four-day win under their belts this season at that point, went to Gloucestershire and came away with a six-wicket win late last wicket.
They have now followed that up with another six-wicket win, this time at home Glamorgan.
The platform for victory was set on the first day when they dismissed their visitors for just 138.
Alex Hughes took 4-46 and Tony Palladino 3-14. Mark Footitt also chipped in with two wickets.
Derbyshire then replied with 241 thanks to 40 from Ben Slater, 50 from Wes Durston, 33 from Tony Palladino and 35 from David Wainwright.
Footitt, who plays his Derbyshire Premier League cricket with Denby, then produced career-best figures of 6-48 to blow away the Glamorgan top order and help to bowl them out for 175, leaving Derbyshire 73 for victory. Tom Taylor also took 3-27. The win was duly achieved early on the third day. Four wickets were lost on the way but Durston (13 not out), Slater (20) and Wayne Madsen (19) saw them home.
