Belper Meadows hot on the heels of league leaders Ashover with victory

Belper Meadows kept up their pursuit of Ashover with an easy win over Chesterfield Seconds in Derbyshire Division 4N.

Chesterfield won the toss and elected to bat at Christchurch Meadows but were restricted to 114 all out from 46 overs.

Jonathan Pearson was the pick of the bowlers with 4-25 from his ten overs, including one maiden over.

Meadows’ reply went smoothly, reaching the total in the 26th over.

Nicholas Mann made an unbeaten 50 and was there at the end alongside Chris Whiteley who finished on 20 not out.

Jamie Rowland made 28 as Meadows won by eight wickets and took 27 points in the process.

Second placed Meadows will be hoping to continue that momentum when they travel to league leaders Ashover on Saturday, in a top of the table clash that could have a big sway in where the title eventually goes.
