Facilities at Stainsby Hall CC are looking good as the club moves into the year of its 150th anniversary.
And, after raising money for a new kitchen, the club has received a boost through a generous gesture by a local company.
The Smalley-based club’s members have been raising money during the course of 2012 for a variety of improvements at the club.
These have included £4-5,000 for a new kitchen in the clubhouse.
And, in a goodwill gesture that has delighted club members, Ilkeston-based company Oatenvale Ltd fitted and supplied the kitchen for free.
Player and committee member Alan Worth explained: “We are really happy because we certainly weren’t expecting this, so it was a really nice surprise.
“We’ve done a lot of fundraising so that we can improve the club facilities over the winter, and the new kitchen is a major part of that.
“We’re not the biggest club in the world, although we feel we are doing well in what has been quite a tricky few years for other clubs, but this goodwill gesture is great for us and we’re very grateful that Oatenvale did it. The kitchen will make a big difference as it will allow us to prepare the food on site for matchday teas rather than bringing it from elsewhere and it also allows us to hold more events here, both in the season and over the winter, which will really boost the club and its profile. We want to say a big thank you to Oatenvale. We’re a club on the up, we’re looking forward to our 150th anniversary in 2013 and this is another piece of good news for us.”
