Denby Cricket Club’s anniversary celebrations continue

Denby Cricket Club’s 30th anniversary of playing at the Copper Yard ground was hampered by the weather.

Rain on Saturday meant that the over 50’s National semi-final on Sunday was cancelled and rain on Sunday night put paid to the game on Monday evening.

However, looking ahead to later in the week the weather is set to improve. The club have a women and girls evening on Thursday with the Derbyshire girls/ mums playing each other and on Friday night Denby are scheduled to have a junior match.

The club have a full complement of matches on Saturday and in the evening are holding a giant sleepover giving young players/ parents the chance to camp out for the night.

On Sunday there is a full programme of cricket for the President’s day and it all starts with a club junior six-a-side at 10 am, also in the morning Denby are hosting the Derby and District League under-15 cup final which will feature Mickleover and Duffield.

The afternoon sees a team playing in the Amber Valley T20 league against Alfreton and the finale will be a Denby Past v Denby Present team in a 20-overs per side game (3.30pm).

The club are hoping that some of those who have played with them over the past 30 years at the Copper Yard will come along and join them at some point.
