Duffield CC 1sts suffered a disappointing final weekend of the season, losing twice and missing out on promotion to the Derbyshire Premier League.

Nevertheless, a fourth-place finish is still a creditable effort from Paul Bakel’s side, who were up there challenging throughout the season.

On Saturday, they lost a high-scoring match by four wickets to Eckington, who eventually went up as champions.

Batting first at Eyes Meadow Duffield made 268-8 from their 50 overs but Eckington responded with 269-6.

On Sunday, they lost by 77 runs to Stainsby Hall, chasing 205 but being dismissed for 127.

Jono Clare took four wickets for Duffield and Paul Bakel top scored with 40.
