Duffield keep up pressure on the top two teams

Duffield CC 1sts earned a draw against Rolleston on Saturday in Division One of the Derbyshire County Cricket League.

Visitors Rolleston won the toss and asked their hosts to bat first.

Duffield were eventually bowled out for 180 in 49.4 overs.

Thomas Roe did well at the top of the order with an innings of 41 off 40 balls, including six fours.

The main contribution came from Peter Jenkins, who scored 70 in the middle order, to hold the innings together before he was the last man out.

There was a good all-round bowling display by Rolleston, who managed to dismiss eight Duffield batsmen for single figure scores.

Alex Britton took four wickets and Luke Nelson three.

Duffield’s bowlers then made runscoring tough for Rolleston, who eventually finished their reply on 166-7 to draw the game.

Alex Britton top scored with 51 while Gareth Marshall chipped in with 21 and Paul Allen with 20.

For Duffield, there were three wickets apiece for Joe Wozniczka-Wells and Luke Webb.

The result means that Duffield are in third place in the DCCL Division One, 15 points outside the top two with three games to go.
