Duffield CC 1sts slipped to fourth position in Division One of the Derbyshire County Cricket League on Saturday.
They suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of fellow promotion chasers Elvaston and are now 36 points outside the top two with two games to go in the season, both to be played this coming weekend.
On Saturday, Elvaston won the toss, batted first and scored an impressive 261-7 off 50 overs.
For the home side, opener Nick Briars made 52, the dangerous Naeem Akhtar hit 41, Gareth Charlesworth 28 and Steve Bull 27 not out from just 13 balls.
For Duffield, Jono Clare and Adam Short claimed two wickets each while Joe Wozniczka-Wells ended up with 3-42 from 12 overs.
In reply, Duffield’s innings fell away disappointingly after a promising start and they were eventually bowled out for 149 in 45.5 overs to lose by 112 runs.
Chris Sheldon made 17, James Pipe 25, Paul Bakel 45, and Peter Jenkins 29 but no-one outside the top five got into double figures as Duffield fell away badly.
From being 118-3 at one stage, they lost their last seven wickets for just 31 runs.
Simon Lillie took 4-30 for Elvaston while there were also three wickets for Naeem Akhtar.
