Duffield CC 1sts suffered their second defeat of the Derbyshire County Cricket League Division One season on Saturday, losing to Elvaston by three wickets.

Elvaston won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Duffield compiled 173-9 in their 50 overs.

Jack Clark top scored in the middle scorer with 38, while skipper Paul Bakel also added 26 to the total and Thomas Roe made 24.

For Elvaston, Jack Pollard took 4-49 and Simon Lillie 3-55.

In their reply, Luke Webb made the ideal start with the ball for Duffield, dismissing openers Matt Gawthrop (4) and Dan Randle (6).

He then followed this up by getting rid of Zac Callaghan (0), Jack Pollard (2) and James Heafield (8).

Elvaston were in real trouble at 24-4 and then 51-5 but there then followed a crucial, match-turning partnership between Gareth Charlesworth, who made 41, and Naeem Akhtar, who went on to score an unbeaten 75 and steer his side to a three-wicket victory.

Webb finished with 5-54.

The win was achieved in 46.1 overs.

Despite the loss, Duffield are still second in the table.
