Duffield CC 1sts returned to winning ways on Saturday in Division One of the Derbyshire County Cricket League by defeating visitors Sawley & LE Park.

Duffield won the toss, batted first and were dismissed for 194 in 48.2 overs.

James Pipe got the innings off to an attacking start with 58 off just 54 balls, a knock that featured four fours and five sixes.

Skipper Paul Bakel supported him well with 21 batting at number three

Luke Webb made an unbeaten 30 in the final overs to push the total close to the 200 mark.

Michael Sibert took 4-34 from 11 overs for Sawley & LE Park.

Duffield then bowled out their visitors for 162 to win the game by 32 runs and consolidate their place in third position in the table, only six points behind second-placed neighbours Quarndon.

Pick of the bowlers for Duffield was Joe Woznicka-Wells. He returned the excellent figures of 6-37 from 13.2 overs, to wrap the innings up in double quick time. Luke Webb took 3-30.

In a strange looking scorecard, Richard Lawton carried his bat for 96 but no-one else got past nine.
