‘Keeper Harvey signs county contract

Wicketkeeper-batsman Harvey Hosein has signed a two-year professional contract with Derbyshire County Cricket Club.

Hosein, a product of the Cricket Derbyshire Academy - in partnership with the University of Derby - has been a regular for the Second XI for the last two seasons and been part of the England Development Programme.

The talented 17-year-old made his First XI debut earlier this month against the touring India side, in which he hit an 89-ball half-century against the international bowling attack.

Elite performance director Graeme Welch said: “Since joining at the age of 13, Harvey has progressed well through the Cricket Derbyshire pathway and he is a fantastic prospect.

“He has already shown in his young career that he has the quality, skill and temperament to play at the highest level and we’re delighted that he will now continue his development at the club.”

Hosein added: “I’ve come through the ranks at Derbyshire and I’m delighted to sign my first professional contract with them.

“Earlier this month I was fortunate enough to make my first team debut against India.

“It was a great experience for me as a young player coming into the dressing room and playing against world class players.

“I’m now looking forward to representing Derbyshire at the highest level and being part of their future success.”
