Belper Meadows 1sts ended their Derbyshire County Cricket League season in seventh in the Division 5N after finishing the season with two defeats on the final weekend.

On Saturday, they took on hosts Sandiacre Town 3rds and lost by 51 runs.

Belper won the toss, bowled first and did well in bowling out their opponents for 138 in 45.3 overs.

In a disciplined bowling display from the Meadows attack, Matt Jones took 3-36, Dan Kelly 2-17, Adam Hardwick 2-23 and there was a wicket each for Adam Holland and Joe Slater.

But batting proved to be equally difficult for Meadows as they were eventually dismissed for 87 in 32.4 overs.

Adam Holland was comfortably the top scorer with 35 but no-one else managed to get past 12.

After this 48-run defeat, Meadows were swiftly back in action on Sunday, losing their final league game by three wickets at home to Ashover.

Belper won the toss, batted and were all out for 137 in 32.1 overs.

Skipper Peter Brookes top scored with 46.

Ashover then reached their target for the loss of seven wickets, in the 35th over.

Matt Jones took 4-46 and Dan Kelly took 2-48.
