Belper Amateurs were especially thankful to two players who lit up the scorecard in their match against Selston Town in Derbyshire 5N.
Josh Pickering starred with the ball on his way to 5-30 as Belper restricted the visitors to the Packhorse Ground to 171 all out in their opening innings.
The decision to put Selston in to bat was justified, bowling them out in the middle of the 44th over. J Kington 3-38 also had a large role with the ball.
But the second star of the scoreboard was Ben Gowing, who hit 101 in Belper’s reply to help his side surpass the total in the 39th over with two wickets remaining.
Belper secured 22 points and Selston were rewarded seven bonus points.
Belper Amateurs play host to the division’s bottom side Swanwick Hall at the Packhorse Ground on Saturday (1.30pm start).
