Duffield CC 1sts kept up their superb, 100 per cent start to the Derbyshire County Cricket League Division One on Saturday.
They won their fifth game from five played so far this season, beating Cutthorpe to open up a 34-point lead at the top of the table.
In gloriously sunny conditions, Duffield skipper Thomas Roe won the toss and made the decision to let his batsmen have first go on the pitch.
This proved to be a good decision as Duffield eventually made it to a challenging total of 257-3 from their 50 overs.
Tim Williscroft and James Pipe departed for single figure scores but after that Duffield’s batsmen held the upper hand.
Opener Chris Sheldon carried his bat for 100 not out and he received good support along the way from Thomas Roe with a brisk 35 from 37 balls and particularly Peter Jenkins.
He made 77 not out from just 80 balls in a crucial unbroken partnership of 144 for Duffield.
When Cutthorpe came to bat, they got off to a decent start as Andrew Thompson made 36 and Nick Drew 39 but only four players made it into double figures as Duffield went in search of their latest victory.
Top scorer was Rob Plested’s quickfire 56 from 42 balls in the middle order but the tail was blown away by Jono Clare as the last six wickets were lost for 14 runs.
He finished with excellent figures of 5-53.
Earlier, Joe Woznicka-Wells also done well, taking three top order wickets.
Cutthorpe were bowled out for 174 as Duffield completed an 87-run win.
This means that Duffield have now won all five of their league matches so far, with three of them being maximum points victories.
Next up for Duffield will be the trip to take on Clifton on Saturday.
