Duffield 1sts hosted Ilkeston Rutland on Saturday in Division One of the Derbyshire County League.
The toss was won by Duffield, who elected to bowl. Despite the early boundaries from Smit, he was dismissed by Alex Jones, who also then picked up the wicket of Marriot and Martin Brandrick, caught by Johal. Johal then dismissed Jones.
George Brandrick lasted four balls before chipping Richard Jordan up to Goodacre, which left Ilkeston on 56-5. Jordan also picked up the wicket of Hunt. Short then got in on the act by nipping one through the gate of Matthew Wakefield. Slater was plum LBW to Johal.
The final two wickets taken by Jones were that of Green and Bobesko which left Jones with figures of 5-53 off 13.5 overs. Jordan and Johal took two wickets apiece as Ilkeston Rutland were dismissed for 116 all out.
The Duffield innings didn’t start as well as hoped. Jack Clark was bowled by Smit and Matt Goodacre was caught. This left Sheldon and Roe to negotiate the final few balls before the inevitable happened and play was abandoned through rain. with Duffield on 33-2.
