BELPER Community Football Programme’s Saturday Skills Academy is moving onto an all-weather pitch for the winter months.
From November 12, the Academy will operate on Saturday mornings from 8.30am to 9.30am, and will be located at Belper Hockey Club’s all-weather pitch at Christchurch Meadow.
The scheme is aimed at boys and girls aged between 5 to 10 years old and the cost is just £3.50 per session.
Children need to wear shin pads and astroturf trainers at each session and also bring a drink.
A visit to the Academy will enable children to enjoy fun, structured sessions that are dedicated to developing technique and skills. The aim is to educate through individual ball skills, craft based and small sided games to maximise the child’s learning at this important stage of their development.
With the themed sessions from an Football Association age appropriate qualified, coaching team lead by FA Regional Community Coach of the Year, Mark Alcock, all boys and girls who attend will learn, thrive and compete within a fantastic and safe playing environment.
The key to this programme is allowing young players to develop individual techniques and establish confidence levels that will enable them to express themselves and learn to make decisions within the game.
BCFP head coach, Mark Alcock said: “We are delighted with the success of the sessions during the last few years. We have seen a real improvement in the children’s skills and development, with many going on to join Belper Town Juniors Under 8s as they set up every season.”
“We are looking to keep building the sessions and welcome any interested boys and girls to join us!”
