Ambergate FC began their pre-season fixtures with an encouraging 1-1 draw at East Midlands Counties side Graham Street Prims.
Prims began with a very youthful side but had a spine of experienced first team players which meant the game would be a tough one on the large pitch at the Raygar Arena.
However, Ambergate adapted well as both teams looked to play some good football.
Prims started on the front foot and had a couple of opportunities but these were snuffed out by AmbergatE. the deadlock was broken on 20 minutes as Arron Wright hit a half volley from 25 yards past Richard Parker in the Ambergate goal.
This did not seem to affect Ambergate as they continued to push forward with the main threat coming from Craig Tipton, Adi Knight and Sam Barsby.
Minutes later, Tipton forced the keeper into a save low to his left and Knight saw his close range header from a corner go narrowly over.
Ambergate came close again from another corner as the ball fell to Mitch Rowley and his shot came off the outside of the post.
Ambergate changed the formation at half time to 3-5-2 and this seemed to give them further confidence in the midfield area.
Ambergate managed to get their goal eventually after 75 minutes.
A chipped ball over the Prims defence found Josh Squires one on one with Marques and he rounded him and rolled the ball into the empty net.
