A 4-1 defeat at home to Arnold Town on Saturday meant that Holbrook Sports suffered their third consecutive East Midlands Counties League loss.
The visitors from Nottingham took the lead after a quarter of an hour when Mitch Slawson curled the ball home.
Holbrook had chances to draw level but they were to rue those wasted opportunities when Arnold made it 2-0 on 27 minutes. Jimmy Speirs was the goalscorer for the visitors.
Moving into the second half, Holbrook were producing most of the attacking play and they made the score 2-1 on 65 minutes when Paul Fisher lobbed the away keeper to halve the deficit.
However, the positive outlook was shortlived because Arnold scored within a minute of Holbrook, to restore their two-goal advantage. It was the second of the game for Mitch Slawson.
Arnold’s victory was all but confirmed with ten minutes remaining when they made it 4-1 through Ash Whitt.
The result means that Sports are currently in tenth place, with 13 points from their ten games so far in the division.
This Saturday, they make the very short trip to take on Holbrook St Michaels in the first round of this season’s Derbyshire Senior Cup (3pm start).
