Belper Town manager Peter Duffield strengthened his midfield by signing both Steve Warne from Matlock and Mark Ward from Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Warne has moved to Belper Town on a permanent basis after a loan spell at Christchurch Meadow earlier in the season.

Ward has returned to the Nailers from Evo-Stik League Premier Division club Stocksbridge Park Steels but he has previously played for Belper in 2002 after he had been released by Sheffield United.

Warne’s previous clubs include Chesterfield, Alfreton Town and Matlock Town where he has been since the 2003/04 campaign. He is also a former club captain of the Gladiators.

Aside from the Blades, Ward has also played for Worksop Town, Hucknall Town, Frickley Athletic, Grantham Town and Bradford Park Avenue before he moved to Stocksbridge in 2007.

However, Duffield’s attempts to keep Scunthorpe United winger Aron Wint for an extended period has hit the buffers as the Iron have had an injury crisis which has forced his return.

It is hoped he can return to Belper on loan once United’s injury situation has improved.
