Belper Ladies were hammered 7-1 by a strong Dronfield side.

The visitors put Belper under pressure early on and they took the lead after scoring from a rebound following a good save by Emma Varnham.

The defence of Emma Newton, Sarah Jackson, Olivia Pell and Helen Colwill regrouped with some tight defending until Dronfield scored from a corner.

Belper tried to stop the flow of the ball in midfield with Alice Legitt, Kelly Turner and Gemma Wheatley attacking the ball.

Katie Harper made some brave runs down the left touchline up to half-time.

The introduction of Sue Thornhill gave Belper plenty of bite in midfield as Belper battled for a route back in to the game.

But Dronfield came out of the blocks and threw everything at Belper for 20 minutes after the break as they extended their lead to 4-0.

Some excellent link up play involving Kelly Turner and Gemma Wheatley allowed Helen Tunicliffe to go clean through, and she made no mistake to make it 4-1.

But Dronfield made some substitutions and Belper ran out of steam with Dronfield’s attackers linking up and splitting the defence several more times to score more goals as they ran out worthy winners.
