The football season might be drawing to a close -- but ambitious Belper Town Juniors are already looking forward to the next one.
For they have launched a summer recruitment drive, with the aim of attracting new and talented, young players to the club.
They are on the lookout for players of primary-school age to join their U7 and U8 teams for the 2016/17 campaign.
And to this end, they are staging an open morning at Thorntons Playing Fields, Derwent Street, Belper on Saturday, June 11, from 9 am to 10.15 am.
A spokesman for the club said: “Any parents whose child is interested in joining Belper Town Juniors next season are invited to attend. The open morning will consist of a training session and small-sided games.
“We are an FA Charter Standard ‘Community’ club, which is the highest level of Charter Standard award. We also have a partnership with Burton Albion FC’s academy to signpost gifted and talented players for progression.” The link-up with Burton is particularly appealing, given that The Brewers, under Nigel Clough, have just gained promotion to the Championship of the Football League for the first time.
