Belper Town U13s beat the leaders

Chellaston 2

Belper Town U13s 4

BELPER approached this game against top-of-the-table Chellason with confidence after an excellent 3-3 draw the previous week against Mickleover.

The team turned in a tremendous performance, taking the game to the hosts from the start, creating a number of chances and it was no surprise when Ben Cartwright lashed a shot home from just insice the penalty area within the first ten minutes.

However, against the run of play, Chellaston equalised and then had a good ten minute spell but Belper’s defence and keeper Will Newton coped brilliantly.

Belper regained the lead with a great finish from Gianluca Gandola who then added his second for a well deserved 3-1 half-time lead.

Town stood resolutely at the start of the second half and then made it 4-1 through Gandola’s hat-trick goal.

Chellaston scored a late consolation goal but it couldn’t detract from what was an excellent all round performance from Belper.
