Holbrook Sports Reserves collected a fine 3-1 win against Heanor Town Reserves on Saturday in the Central Midlands League Reserve Supreme Division.
Inside the first two minutes, Heanor’s Dean Robinson broke down the right and his dangerous low cross was missed at the back post by Andreas Kokkinou.
Jack Smith went close twice in the next six minutes but Butener in the Holbrook goal saved well.
Then Robinson forced Butener into another tremendous save which Heanor goalkeeper Ross Cherry matched on 16 minutes.
Holbrook took the lead from the resulting corner when Liam Barber, under no pressure, turned the ball into his own net.
Sean Gardner’s excellent delivery on 21 minutes found Luke Duerden on the six-yard box but his shot struck the bar with the goal at his mercy.
The Brookies extended their lead as a result of this let-off when Danny Arnold sidefooted into an empty net on 24 minutes.
Smith had a shot from the edge of the box, but Butener palmed the ball away and Cherry had to make another tremendous save.
Into the second half, when Kial Thurman lost possession, Aaron Brady punished Heanor with a chip shot over Cherry to make it 3-0.
Heanor’s pressure paid off when Luke Duerden’s left-foot shot from 18 yards reduced the arrears on 77 minutes but it was too late.
Heanor went all out for more. Robinson was twice denied, Duerden saw his 20-yard effort turned round the post and then Robinson headed and shot wide.
