At the time of writing the January transfer window is about to close.
Steve McClaren has done a bit of business in bringing in Patrick Bamford on loan from Chelsea as well as George Thorne from West Bromich. Simon Dawkins has also been made a permanent signing.
Bamford has impressed in his early games for the Rams with three goals already.
Last Tuesday saw him score in a game that Derby won three minutes into time added on at the end of the game.
The home fans could hardly believe their eyes as we went in 2-0 down at half time. A game which we dominated possession and had the most clear-cut chances and efforts on goal, was seeing us having to move into overdrive.
Make no mistake, Derby dominated the game from beginning to end. Yeovil must have been pinching themselves at half time!
Again, the gaffer made all of the right moves. A more attacking formation seeing a win at the death. Bamford, Bryson and Martin coming up with the goods.
Is it me or are we a side that has a much more positive outlook in games now? At half time while taking in refreshments with the usual crowd of fans, I did say to them that we could still win the game and some agreed too!
The players were not allowed to let their heads drop and continued to pressurise the Yeovil defence.
Games like these can define your season. We could look back at this game and say that it was a game that helped us make the top six.
On the other hand, we were cursing on the Saturday previous when we only came away with a draw from Blackburn. That come come back to haunt us and cost us a chance of automatic promotion.
Whatever happens, there’s never a dull moment at the iPro these days. Glad to be on board and enjoying the ride!
