Belper Town u14s won a pulsating cup final against last year’s winners Spondon Dynamos.

On a bitterly cold afternoon, the game caught fire straight away with both teams going forward.

First blood went to Belper when Dylan Garnett got behind the Spondon defence and pushed the ball past the keeper.

The lead was short-lived when Spondon hit back almost immediately but Belper went ahead again when Garnett held off defenders to rifle home a second.

Spondon then got back on level terms.

However, there was still time for another goal and Garnett got his hat-trick following a great flick on from Sam Birks.

The tempo of the second half slowed on an increasingly frosty pitch.

Belper midfield duo Ben Cartwright and Jorge Knowles began to take control and were helped by the tireless work of Niall Kelley and Gianluca Gandola.

It was no surprise when Sam Birks scored a fourth for Belper and it could have been more if not for an excellent save by the Spondon keeper from Jorge Knowles.

Tom Chinn in the Belper goal was relatively untroubled as Belper finished the game as 4-2 winners. This was an outstanding achievement for a great bunch of players and a real squad achievement as everyone has played a part through the cup run.
