Belper Town Girls under 14s signed off the season with a thoroughly deserved win from a dominant display of football, beating Whaley Bridge 4-1.
The whole squad of 18 contributed to a disciplined display and the result was more than fair reward.
Confidence grew after two goals in the first half from Elyse Fearnley. Consistent pressure, neat defending and disciplined positional play in midfield allowed Belper to control the game.
An own goal from a Naimh Stokes corner increased the half-time lead to 3-0.
Wholesale changes at half-time didn’t affect the Belper team and further goals almost came. A mixture of luck and some excellent saves by the Whaley Bridge goalkeeper kept the ball out. Whaley Bridge did get a goal back but Elyse Fearnley capped her player of the match performance by completing a hat-trick.
