Holbrook Sports U14 seal deserved win

Holbrook Sports U14s returned to winning ways with a deserved 3-1 home win against Sinfin Sharks.

Sports started the match brightly with Joel Heeley going close after some excellent work from Luis Bates on the wing.

It didn’t take long however for Holbrook to take the lead via the penalty spot after Heeley was brought down in the box.

Centre forward James Hawley made no mistake blasting into the top left hand corner.

Holbrook dominated the remainder of the half, giving Sinfin little time to play with Josh Mills excelling at the heart of the defence.

The second half started in the same vein, with the home side looking the more likely team to score, and it was a short wait until the second went in, with more good work from Joel Heeley in the box drawing another penalty.

Hawley stepped up and made no mistake, arrowing the ball into the right hand corner.

With 20 minutes to go Holbrook were cruising but, after a rare mistake, Sinfin were allowed back into the game with a well taken free kick from 25 yards.

At 2-1 ,Sinfin raised their game and were denied an equaliser after a fantastic double save from goalkeeper Jack Beighton and Joe Bell clearing his lines.

With 10 minutes left, substitute George Watson-Clay produced a deft headed pass to Ted Clark, who went on to beat two players before sliding the ball into the net to wrap up the win.

Sports saw out the rest of the game comfortably to claim a deserved three points.
