Live: Woking vs Spireites
Spireites can extend lead at top of table with win
Chesterfield can extend their lead at the top of the table to eight points if they win tonight - with second placed Barnet facing Oldham Athletic tomorrow. Bromley, in third, take on Aldershot Town. Solihull Moors and Gateshead - fourth and fifth respectively - also play each other this evening.
Previous results vs Woking
Tonight’s game is the first fixture between the two sides this season. In February this year, Woking won 3-1 at the SMH Group Stadium - with former Spireite Jim Kellerman among the goals. In March 2023, an Ollie Banks penalty was enough to secure a 1-0 away win for Chesterfield at the Laithwaite Community Stadium.
In the buildup to tonight’s game, Danny Webb discussed the need to return to winning form - after a 2-1 defeat at Southend ended the Spireites’ long unbeaten run.
Speaking to 1866 Sport, he said: “It was a hugely disappointing result. The manager always says that he looks for the performance first and sadly the performance wasn’t there either.
“Southend were worthy winners because they scored two and we scored one. Their goals were very avoidable from our perspective.
“The good thing is that we’ve got a game on Tuesday, straight away. Everyone knows we weren’t quite at the races and it’s time to get back on track.”
Spireites lineup
Here’s how Chesterfield will be lining up tonight - with six changes from Saturday’s loss at Southend:
1 - Harry Tyrer
22 - Ryheem Sheckleford
21 - Ash Palmer
5 - Jamie Grimes (C)
16 - Miguel Freckleton
35 - Mike Jones
4 - Tom Naylor
17 - Armando Dobra
7 - Liam Mandeville
18 - James Berry
27 - Joe Quigley
Subs: Horton, Colclough, Banks, Jacobs, Grigg

Woking are currently sat 17th in the National League, and sacked manager Darren Sarll on November 13 after a poor run of form - including a 2-1 loss to eighth tier Ramsgate in the FA Cup. Their last game was a 1-0 home loss against Oldham Athletic. Assistant Manager Ian Dyer will take charge of the first team for tonight’s game as the search for a new manager continues.
