The new Manor Pharmacy Matlock & District Football League season kicks-off today with some great matches lined up on day one.
Derbyshire Cup and league champions Boythorpe FC (formerly Hopflower) get their campaign under way against an all-changed Shirland MW club who are currently building a new side.
Division Two league champions Codnor Miners FC start their new season in division one against Cavendish Cup and Manor Pharmacy Shield winners Chesterfield Town. Certainly one to savour.
Newcomers Ashover FC and newly-promoted RiddingsRovers don’t start their season until the following week but the other game in division one sees Laburnum Saints take on a Shirebrook Rangers side with only one thing on their mind this season, silverware.
Division Two sees a host of new sides for the 2-12/13 season. CCS Barley Mow make their bow in the league with a tough game against what is expected to be a solid Black Hippo side.
Another new side,Darley Dale Red Star start their campaign against another new side, Foresters FC, with both teams looking to get their season off to a good start with all three points.
Matlock Cup winners Hurst Farm United take on AFC Lea Holloway with Tansley entertaining Wirksworth Albion.
AFC South Wingfield’s first game will be the following week.
