The third Saturday of the new season saw plenty of goals to celebrate (writes David Robinson).

There were only four games in the Premier Division but they produced 26 goals, nine of them coming in one match as Rowsley ‘86 won 5-4 away at Chellaston.

Matlock Sports hit six to record their first win of the season as they triumphed 6-3 at Punjab United.

Swanwick Pentrich Road beat Newmount 4-1 whilst Allestree shaded Newhall United 2-1.

In Division One, could this be the season that Ripley Town finally play to their potential? Certainly a 6-1 win at Bargate Rovers suggests that this might be so.

However, Woolley Moor United will have ideas of their own on where the trophies in the first division might be heading after a 4-2 win at Allenton United Reserves.

Rowsley ‘86 Reserves failed to emulate their first string though as they lost 4-2 to Mickleover RBL Reserves.

One team which is really hot at the moment is Ambergate FC and their 7-0 win over Chellaston Reserves puts them second only to Mackworth St Francis Reserves in the division two scoring stakes.

Roe Farm being the team which was on the end of an 8-0 defeat against Mackworth.

Newton won 2-1 at Hilton Harriers while Newhall United Reserves won 4-2 over Tibshelf Reserves.

Shardlow St James won 3-0 against Bargate Rovers Reserves and Pastures Reserves won 2-1 at Wirksworth Town Reserves.

In the Junior Cup, Willington Sports did not have to get changed to make it through to round two as Punjab United Reserves gifted them a walkover win.
