A Belper-based youth football team has received over £400 from a housing association to buy brand new kit ahead of their upcoming season.
Bargate Kestrels FC, whose players range from six to ten years old, will be sporting their new shirts, shorts and socks thanks to a cash injection from Futures Homescape - provider of around 6,000 homes across Derbyshire.
Club secretary Becky Salt said: “We are over the moon with the new kit, it looks absolutely brilliant and we know the kids will enjoy wearing it in their matches.
“We look much more professional, so we’d like to say a huge thank you to Futures Homescape for giving us the money for the kit – it makes a huge difference to us.”
The money was awarded as part of the housing association’s Your Vote Your Choice Community Grant Scheme, which was set up to support clubs and groups around Derbyshire get hold of extra cash to help fund days out and pay for new materials and equipment.
Futures Homescape community development manager Sarah Whattam said: “It’s great that we’ve been able to help the Kestrels get some new kit, hopefully it will help them in their matches.”
The Your Vote Your Choice scheme has been running for more than 11 years, with over 100 groups and clubs having benefitted from the cash.
Funding from the Futures Homescape Your Vote Your Choice Community Grant Scheme is still available, with anyone who is involved in a local club, group or project being invited to request an application pack by calling 01773 573147.
