Here, our Rams writer Mark Duffy gives his verdict on each player who featured at Villa Park.

Looked wobbly early on, including dropping a cross, and could perhaps have done better on the first goal. Made a couple of good stops after the break, however.
Looked rusty and didn't get much help.
Tormented by the Villa front line and as exposed as most of his fellow defenders.
Steady on the ball but again, exposed too often.
Didn't get much ball and when he did he was snuffed out.
Didn't do a lot wrong but didn't get enough ball to do anything right. A very lonely afternoon for him.
Never got to grips with Jack Grealish and co and was replaced at half-time.
Didn't seem fit and got little service out wide. Replaced early in the second-half.
Energetic as always but lack of movement ahead of him stifled his attacking ideas.
Exposed several times in the first-half and didn't reappear for the second.
Looked the most assured Rams player on the pitch despite it being his first league start. Tough gig for him but couldn't be faulted too much.
Came on at half-time and worked hard, getting a shot or two in on goal as well, but was well attended by Villa defenders.
Another half-time introduction and did his bit in ensuring a second-half clean sheet.
Played just over half-an-hour and seemed settled despite the game being lost.
