Poor first half proves costly as Belper Ladies are beaten

Belper Ladies were beaten 4-1 away to Hilton Ladies in their last outing.

The game with early pressure from Hilton’s midfield and forwards.

The defence of Rachel Evans Olivia Pell, Sarah Jackson and Emma Newton tried to defend, but midway through the first half Hilton took the lead.

It was soon 2-0 when Belper failed to deal with a goal-kick allowing Hilton to score.

Belper tried to take some control and had some runs down the wings into the Hilton half with Leah Parkin and Katie Harper.

The midfield of Jemma Wheatley and Franchesca Ashley continued to battle linking with Helen Tunicliffe up front.

Tactical substitutions bought Lauren Curle and Beth Parkin into the game but it failed to stop Hilton, who added two more goals for a 4-0 lead at the break.

Belper came out with nothing to lose in the second half and enjoyed plenty of pressure and a number of shots going just wide.

Belper continued to pile the pressure on resulting in a flurry of corners for Belper, which saw them pull a goal back through Tunicliffe.
