Railway Inn fall to penalty shoot-out cup final defeat

RAILWAY INN and HOLMEWOOD MINERS WELFARE could not be separated at the end of full time and extra time, and their cup quarter final tie was decided on penalty kicks.

Goals from Inn’s Jay Brackley, Gareth Ellis and Jay Cooper were cancelled out by Steve Adams (2) and Justin Deakin.

The penalty shoot-out was decided by Holmewood’s Ashley Morton who kept his nerve to stroke home the goal that sent his side through to the semi-finals.

In a dress rehearsal for tomorrow evening’s Solar Press cup final, JACKSDALE MW eased past SHIRLAND MW 2-1.

Matt Brittle, Matt Hunt and Richard Groves were each on the mark for MARLPOOL WHITE LION as they booked their semi-final place with a 3-0 win over HEANOR STAFF.

Despite largely dominating proceedings, AMBER ATHLETIC were unable to convert their territorial advantage into goals, and their tie against HAYLOFT was scoreless at the end of full time. However, two extra time goals scored by Matt Wright and Matt Wilders secured Amber the final place in the semi-final line up.

In Alfreton Insurance Services Division One, Liam Brown maintained his terrific goals per game return by bagging another four as CRIB FC swept aside AFC SOUTH NORMANTON. Andy Calladine had set Crib on their way with an early strike and there were others from Ben Summers – the goal of the game – and Dean Owens. James Pearce notched for the visitors but Crib strolled to a 7-1 victory.

GALLOWS INN secured the third division title after summarily dismissing their nearest rivals OUT OF TOWN 5-0.

In the same division BULLS HEAD were beaten 0-2 at home by HILCOTE MW.
