Seven up as goal happy Ambergate rout the royals

Midlands Regional Alliance

Division Two

Derby Royals Reserves 2

Ambergate 7

AMBERGATE produced a clinical display to record a big win and continue their pursuit of the league leaders.

Gate started brightly and led inside ten minutes when Andrew Stevenson finished after the keeper parried Tipton’s effort.

The lead was soon doubled as Stevenson broke through and lobbed the home keeper.

The third came when Tipton slotted home as Royals failed to clear Randall’s cross.

A lapse of concentration was punished and allowed Royals back into the game but their lifeline was soon extinguished when Shaun Bestwick smashed home number four from just inside the area.

There was time for a fifth before half time, Tipton side-footing home a 20 yard free kick.

Ambergate started the second half sloppily, maybe thinking the game was already won, and Royals took advantage to reduce the deficit as a corner kick was headed home..

Authority was soon restored though as stevenson grabbed his hat trick. Bestwicks effort was saved but stevenson was on hand to finish the rebound.

However, Tipton was not to be outdone, and he grabbed his hat trick late on as he headed homs his second hat-trick of the season to finish Randall’s fine delivery.
