The Nailers recorded their first away victory of the season with a 1-0 win over Stamford.

Ashley Burbeary scored the only goal of the game, as Froggatt’s men gave a classy defensive performance to take all three points.

Nabil Shariff had the games first chance after five minutes after Ryan Robbins good run down the left hand side. Robbins found his way to the byline and pulled back a low cross where Shariff stabbed the ball wide.

Belper then had their first sighter three minutes later when a corner by Ian Ross was met by Towey, whose header was caught well by the keeper.

Jon Froggatt nearly put the visitors one up after a misjudgement by the defender saw the ball bounce over his head to give Froggatt the chance to pounce. Froggatt then smashed the half volley on goal but Stevens plunged to his right to save.

The Nailers then took the lead on 18 minutes when Glyn Cotton did well to keep the ball in play down the left hand side. The ball was then worked to Towey on the right who found a cross which fell nicely for Ashley Burbeary eight yards out. Burbeary then killed the ball dead and spun on to his left side, to delicately place the ball in to the corner.

Captain Ryan Clarke struck a long range pile driver from distance on the stroke of half time, which came rattling off the bar.

The second half produced few clear cut chances and saw a Nailers side defend with aplomb. Persistent pressure by the Daniels was canceled out time after time, as Belper held on well to claim all three points.
