Three more sign for Belper United

Defender Sam Carter has signed for Belper United from South Normanton.

Sam has played for Belper Town and Mickleover Sports, amongst others, and will bring much needed experience to the squad.

Meanwhile, Adam Robley and Dean Oliver have joined United from Derby-based Graham St Prims. Robley (defender) was last year’s skipper and Dean Oliver (midfield) ended up as player of the year in a very successful season for the East Midlands Counties club.

Exciting young striker Luke Crosby, after having a spell at Heanor Town, and goalkeeper Scott Whittingham, after a successful promotion season with South Normanton, have both rejoined the club.

Add to that last seasons Player of the year, Scott Slater, Leading goalscoring, Sam Vickers, and new first team player/coach Joe Conkleton plus numerous others committing themselves again to the club it is looking good for the Central Midlands League South side.

Manager Paul Postlethwaite says “We had a fabulous start to the season last year but we were then taught a lesson in the FA Vase and the season stalled after that, but it was the realisation of how much we needed to change to get where we wanted to get to.

“We have worked tirelessly since the end of the season to bring the right people to the club. We have now added young and exciting coaches to the management team, Joe Conkleton as first team coach and Dave Kinder and Matt Freeman in charge of our reserves set-up.

“Joe Conkleton feels we already have a squad with enough quality to play some terrific football and really move on from last season while Phill Alcock is currently working with six goalkeepers from Evo-stik experienced to the best young keepers who have come up through the Belper Town community, who he feels are all good enough to play first team football.”

Paul concluded: “It is an exciting time for the club and we look forward to August 9 and the start of the new season.”
