Ripley Town FC are on the lookout for new players as the side returns to pre-season training.
In addition, the Nottingham Road-based club is keen to hear from people who could fill the role of coach/trainer, to help take training and the pre-match warm-ups, plus matchday help and sponsors.
Manager Paul Lavender’s side is in action in the forthcoming Stan Brewster Memorial Football Tournament, one of the reasons for such an early start to pre-season.
Last season, Ripley fell away somewhat after a promising first half of the campaign, finishing in mid-table in the Midlands Regional Alliance Division One.
Paul Lavender explained: “It was a real season of two halves. Up to Christmas, we were third in the league, and in the semi and quarter fials of the cups but then the bad weather came and we went eight weeks without a game, and were never really the same again.
“Other teams suffered too but it seemed to take the wind out of our sails and it took us a while to get it going again because we weren’t training during the winter. We lost momentum so we are not keen for a repeat of that weather this season!
“We are still looking for new players. There are one or two irons in the fire about decent signings we might be making but I am always keen to see new players coming down to training, particularly younger players.”
The team trains on Wednesdays from 7pm at the Nottingham Road playing fields in Ripley.
