Holbrook Sports U16s made it three wins from three to lead the Derby City League U16s Division One with a 4-3 victory to knocks hosts Cobra Oakwood off the top spot.
Holbrook dominated the play from the start with Connor Bradley going close with virtually the first attack of the game.
Indeed, it was Bradley who eventually opened the scoring midway into the half.
Oakwood then began to get a foothold in the game and equalized shortly before the break. Like a wounded animal, Holbrook attacked with purpose, culminating in a fine right foot drive into the bottom corner from Whitehead to regain the lead.
The second half continued in the same vein with Holbrook passing and moving and Cobra content to play the long ball. It was a long punt forward which led to the home side’s equalizer. Cobra added a third after a free-kick was expertly dispatched.
Holbrook sprang straight into action with Jackson going close after neat passing from the Johnson twins. Brookies’ pressing paid dividends when an excellent through-ball from the impressive Woodward was converted by Bradley.
It was now all-out attack for Sports as they went in search of the winner and some tricky footwork in the area earned a penalty. Dan Johnson stepped forward and confidently smashed the ball high into the top corner.
