GB Winter Olympics curling success inspires Bolsover residents to take up sport
Derbyshire Village Games – a not-for-profit project that helps local people set up sport sessions and activities in villages across the county – is running the six week course of sessions in five retirement homes.
Laura Stephen, Bolsover Village Games Co-ordinator, said: “The timing is perfect - the success of Team GB in Sochi and the country’s passion for curling has really sparked interest in the sessions which are proving a real hit.

Cathy Rooney, Derbyshire Village Games Project Manager, said: “Village Games works because our team of coordinators go out and talk to people to ask them what they’d like to do to get fitter and have fun right on their doorstep using local facilities. Working in partnership with local authorities we can help them find venues, coaches and instructors and help provide equipment.”
