Youngsters in Amber Valley are being invited to take part in an award-winning sports project being run in Ripley and Belper.

The Derbyshire Village Games Project, working in partnership with Amber Valley Borough Council, is hosting weekly orienteering sessions for children at Crossley Park, Ripley and Belper River Gardens.

Each session costs £1 per person and is part of the XPlorer Challenge. Sessions run from 10am until midday and the first one, in Ripley, was hailed a success by organisers Beth Turner and Helen Willis.

Beth said: “The Village Games is a community-spirited project bringing activity to people’s doorsteps. The sessions so far have gone really well.”
