Belper Hockey Club remain in the relegation play-off zone in the Conference North table despite their 4-2 win over bottom-of-the-table Leek.
Joseph Paul put the home side ahead on 24 minutes, before Matthew Hickman doubled their lead on 30 minutes.
The visitors pulled a goal back a minute later when Elliot White scored.
But it was to be Belper’s day as Drew Burkin made it 3-1 on 33 minutes following a frantic period of scoring.
Burkin then gave his side some breathing space after bagging his second on 40 minutes from a penalty corner.
Ian Schulz did pull one back for Leek on 52 minutes.
But Belper hung on for what could be a crucial win.
The victory leaves Belper in the relegation play-off place four points behind nearest rivals Deeside Ramblers.
Belper, who secured their first win in five, now face four crucial fixtures against Sheffield Halla, Olton & West Warwicks, Deeside Ramblers and runaway leaders Bowdon Men’s as they look to preserve their status in the division.
