Belper Hockey Club’s survival hopes suffered a massive setback after they were beaten 3-2 by the Deeside Ramblers.

They got off to the worst possible start when Ali Ghazanfar scored for the visitors after two minutes.

Belper fought hard throughout the match and created plenty of opportunities from play.

They then levelled through Chris Spruce on 45 minutes.

Deeside were ruthlessly from penalty corners and went ahead again through Graham Allwood on 55 minutes.

It was 3-1 on 65 minutes when Ibrar Latif found the goal.

Belper did give themselves hope and pulled a goal back through Joseph Paul two minutes later.

Their cause was not helped by the news that Leek won 3-1 to leave Belper three points adrift with one match to play.

Belper must now beat league champions Bowdon who have not lost a match all season.
