Belper Hockey Club beat Rugby and East Warwickshire 2-1 to stay third in the table.
Belper took the lead in the 14th minute when Chris Beastall seized on slackness in the Rugby defence to fire home low beneath the goalkeeper.
The visitors equalised later in the half to send the teams in level at the interval.
Neither side made the most of their chances in the second half - but the games ended with a final ten minutes of drama.
Firstly, Rugby had the chance to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty flick, but the Belper keeper pulledoff a great save to keep the scores level. Then down at the other end a Rugby player tried a pass out of defence, Chris Beastall intercepted and transferred the ball quickly to Sam Dixon, who showed great awareness to isolate the on-rushing goalkeeper .
And that allowed Nick Morris to roll the ball into an unguarded net to put Belper in the lead.
The goal was quickly followed by Belper being awarded two penalty flicks themselves - but both of these were missed too.
Sam Dixon sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, but his shot hit the post. Then Steve Batten had his flick saved by the visiting goalkeeper.
Pic cap: Nick Morris (8) turns after scoring the winning goal.
