Belper Ladies Hockey returned to Midlands Premier League action after the winter break with a 4-2 win over Sutton Coldfield.
The club was was boosted by the return to the club of defender Louisa Boddy , who last played for Belper in the 2008/09 Season.
Since then her education and hockey has taken her to the University of Durham and then on to the University of Connecticut, USA.
League leaders Belper off to a great start with a goal from full-back Georgie Grostate in the first minute.
Sutton Coldfield equalised after 30 minutes, but Belper regained the lead immediately as Georgie Grostate’s pass allowed Sally Goodman to score from close range.
Sutton Coldfield were playing above their bottom of the League form and equalised for a second time after the break.
But again Belper regained the lead within minutes when Jo Lane powered through the midfield before hitting an unstoppable shot into the net.
Sutton Coldfield made a spirited fight of it so there was some relief when a fine Belper move gave Marianne Dammer the chance to walk the ball into an empty net for the crucial fourth goal.
Results elsewhere went in Belper’s favour and leaves them still at the top of the League - with an away trip to Boots to come next week.
