Belper won a bruising encounter 10-8 against East retford to keep their lead at the top of Midlands 4.
The league leaders had to dig deep to come away with the points against a hard-hitting Retford side.
It was clear from the off that Retford fancied their chances and so they should having beaten Belper at home on several occasions over the last few years.
Retford took the lead in the first half with a scrambled effort and lead 5-0 at half time.
Changes to the Belper side at the break saw them come out in much better form and drove Retford over the line to equalise with Mitch wilmott falling over the line and Stones converting.
Retford then hit back with a penalty to regain the lead before another Stones kick secured the win.
